A fantastic news report from Thames TV in 1982. It seems that the buildings were starting to become dangerous in the early 1980s and scaffolding was erected to protect the residents from falling masonry !

As a matter of fact the latter end of Corfield street has scaffolding right now!
Probably much safer now than in the past.
I used to live in corfield Street I the nineties and scaffolding was put up..Still living in bethnal Green and pass the waterlow estate regularly and it’s often festooned in scaffolding
